Dubbing & Voiceover

Dubbing is the post-production process of recording and replacing voices on a motion picture or television soundtrack subsequent to the original shooting schedule. "Dubbing" also describes the process of an actor's re-recording lines spoken during filming and which must be replaced to improve audio quality or reflect dialog changes. Foreign-language films, videos and sometimes video games are often dubbed into the local language of their target markets to increase their popularity with the local audience by making them more accessible. Dubbing is common both in theatrically released film and in television series.
Voice-over (also called off-camera or offstage commentary) is a production technique where a non-diegetic voice is used in a radio, television, film, theatre, or other presentation. Voice-overs are often used to create the effect of storytelling by a character/omniscient narrator. The voice-over has many applications in non-fiction as well, where voice-over artistes describe the significance of the scenes being presented which are interspersed with straight video or when video is not shown. The commercial use of voice-over in advertising has been popular since the beginning of radio broadcasting.
