A Radio Jockey (or "RJ") is a person who hosts a radio talk show, where s/he selects the music to be played by interacting with the audience via telephone. Lately, the term has started to be associated with radio show hosts who interact with viewers online, with or without playing a song. Today, radio jockeying is considered to be a 'hot' profession[by whom?], and some radio jockeys have become household names, such as Ameen Sayani, Shamshir, Karan, Hardeep Chandpuri, Anil Srivatsa, Nitin and Ravi Kumar.
Radio jockeys may start working for fixed salaries, but their pay-packages can skyrocket after a few years in the business.
